North Souix City, South Dakota

Drove across the cold, windy state of South Dakota. Staying tonight at the Comfort Inn. We have almost re-charged our physical batteries even though driving 6 hours a day seems like it too much, its kind of a nice change. I just can't believe how friggin' cold and windy it is here in South Dakota. I've got wind burns on my face but after meeting a homeless woman tonight, I am counting my blessings!!! This woman and her family are staying at the motel because a tornado destroyed their house this year. They were living in their motor home until winter arrived, now they're living in the motel until their house is rebuilt. She said it took this long to finally get the insurance to settle up and the house is just getting started to be rebuilt so they have another 6 months living in the motel.

I think we need to all look around us and thank God for what we have. No matter what we have to complain about, there is always someone next to us that has it worse off. I'm so thankful for everything we have.

Rapid City, South Dakota

Arrived in Rapid City for an early check in. We are still catching up on rest. With the weather issues we decided to call it an early day. Staying at the AmericInn, which we do not recommend. We went to dinner at Arnold's Classic Diner. Then went to the movies to see the new Harry Potter movie. The snow stopped but the wind is horrible here.

New Chapter - Moving Forward

After two of the most stressful and physically taxing days that I can ever remember, we are finally on our way to our new life in Ontario. We left Larry & Grace’s place (The Pioneer Bed & Breakfast – Irricana, Alberta) at 7:00 a.m., stopped for a coffee at Tim Horton’s as we left Calgary.

Saturday evening we arrived at Billings, Montana around 6:00 p.m. and checked into the Dude Rancher Lodge. We know it will be several days to get over the exhaustion and stress but we are starting to relax. We asked the front desk for a recommendation for dinner, which we were thrilled that we took her advice. The Montana Brewing Company is a truly unique place to dine. This brewpub is known for an incredible home-style menu and a full bar featuring special microbrews. We now also recommend it if you ever visit Billings, Montana.

We woke up on Sunday morning to heavy snow coming down. After a nice breakfast, we filled up with gas we started out for Rapid City, South Dakota. Unfortunately the weather worsened as continued, pressing through carefully. We made it over the pass from Billings, Montana on I-90 but we only got as far as Sheridan, Wyoming due to the blizzard. We are stuck here for the night at the Quality Inn, which turned out to be just fine with us -- nice hotel. Our room has a lazy boy recliner, which gave us a much needed feeling of home. If you are ever in Sheridan, Wyoming, eat at Los Agaves restaurant -- truly authentic Mexican food -- I was completely satisfied.

Monday, Nov 29th, we are planning to head to Rapid City, South Dakota because of the weather that is as far as we can probably go until the storm passes through this area.
